Job Description

Broadheath foods were a chilled manufacturer for large supermarket chains.

My role was to maintain and manage the companies computer systems which ranged from a bespoke BOS system supplied by Universal Micro Systems across a BNC network. My main duties were to ensure system availability for the company users.

My employment started at Broadheath Foods as a data entry contractor for a 16 week term. During this period I was involved with the implementation of a bill of materials systems working closely with the computer systems consultant and their 3rd party provider.

In addition to working on the bill of materials system, I demonstrated a natural ability for computers and a keen interest in all aspects of the computer system within the business. This was noticed by the consultant and 3rd party company who recomended I be taken on as a full time employee as my work had been valuable in getting the system working quickly and efficently.

It made good business sence to hire me full time as I had spent alot of time developing the system and learning other aspect of the hardware and software. Finding someone in the market with these skills would have proven costly and taken time so I was offered a full time post as Computer Systems Officer.

I supported all end users of the system in addition to being the single point of contact for any technical development areas within the computer system. I learned alot from the 3rd party provider about hos the solution was implemented and got a good understanding of the BOS systems, serial networking technology and desktop PC hardware and software.
